My most important creative resolution for 2021 was to shoot more slide film in medium format. Once and for all I have decided to teach myself how to meter the light properly. As we know, medium format film slows you down a lot and reverse stocks are not quite forgiving in terms of exposure mistakes. Keeping this in mind, I knew I had to either learn quick or just deal with waisted frames and money.

Coming back home for a holiday break is always exciting. I tend to keep my fingers crossed, hoping for a Winter weather in Latvia and this time (second time in a row actually) I was lucky enough to have a bit of proper cold and snow.

Creative resolution for this Summer (and the rest of the year I guess) was to stick to one camera and one film – Bronica SQ-AI and Kodak Ektachrome 100. I spent ages wanting to try square format waist level camera, but something would always get in a way.

Those were (still are) tricky times, but I don’t think I ever had a better opportunity to capture this bittersweet feeling of loneliness and nostalgia on the streets of London.
