London Between Lockdowns

Those were (still are) tricky times, but I don’t think I ever had a better opportunity to capture this bittersweet feeling of loneliness and nostalgia on the streets of London. The two favourite moods I always try to get whenever I wander around with my camera, so why missing the change to make the most of those strange months? London was in and out of lockdowns, looking unusually quiet, and since there were not many opportunities for portrait sessions, I tried to stay inspired with whatever I could get in front of my lenses.
The images in this post were taken in October-December 2020. Autumn and early Winter are the best seasons when the weather helps me to get what I’m usually after. This time I tried to stick to the river - that’s where the most interesting things happen, especially in the early hours of the day.
Most of the photos were shot on Cinestill 800T film (an outstanding performer even outside of its tungsten “comfort zone”) with Pentax 645N medium format camera. All 35mm images taken with my usual Canon A1 and Kodak Ultramax 400 pushed one stop - I developed a very special feelings about this stock in the recent year. A spectacular dev&scan work was made by Canadian Film Lab.
